Jimi's first blog (and Happy Thanksgiving…)

By Jimi Doidge

Tomorrow is Thursday, just an average, everyday Thursday in Canada, but for the United States it is Thanksgiving. I figure I should acknowledge it since over 300 million people are celebrating it…

Which means that there are millions of people in the US that are celebrating Thanksgiving AND have ADHD. You’re probably wondering, why would that be relevant? It isn’t.

Or maybe you’re wondering who’s Jimi and why is he writing a blog?

My name is Jimi, I work with Rick and Ava on this website. I edit the videos, post the blogs, and anything else they ask me to do (literally anything…) and most importantly I delete all the spammers in the forums that post these kind of things “Find discount purses and electronics www.discountelectroniczz&%$$.com”

My computer is full of viruses because of those posts (Rick makes me click on every spam link in the forums “just in case“.. Just in case WHAT Rick? Sorry off topic…)

So since Rick and Ava are in Toronto today doing more talks on ADD (or so they tell me…) I figure I would post a blog instead of Rick. And since it’s Thanksgiving, why not make my first blog post about Thanksgiving?! Even though I already celebrated Thanksgiving a month ago, it can’t hurt to be thankful twice a year can it?

People always talk about what’s wrong, what they aren’t thankful for. But for tomorrow, talk about what’s right, what you are thankful for. And after tomorrow you can go back to being unthankful…

For tomorrow, look at things in a positive way. If your car breaks down think ‘at least I have a car’ if you break your leg think ‘at least I didn’t break both legs’ if your computer freezes think ‘at least my country has equal rights’ if someone tries to kill you think ‘at least they didn’t succeed’ and so on and so on…

Well?….

Let’s hear it…

What are you thankful for?

P.S. This is the first blog I have written so I’m not sure if it is okay to use ‘PS’ in a blog…

P.S.S. Whatever, there are no rules to blogging. I’ll put as many ‘PS’s’ as I want!

P.S.S.S. Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at TotallyADD!

P.S.S.S.S. Since I didn’t let them know on Canadian Thanksgiving, I will let them know now, thanks Rick and Ava, without you guys I wouldn’t be here right now. I live the life I have right now because you guys hired me and went out of your way to keep me here and keep paying me. When we were building the website you guys were working for free to do this and I was getting paid, there is no way that I should have been making more money then both of you to work on this website. One day I will repay you. So thanks, and I hope you don’t fire me for writing this blog instead of putting up the blog that Rick emailed me this morning…

-Love,

Jimi

Wait, you don’t end blogs like that do you? Great.. My backspace button is broken… This is the worst day ever…

Thank you Jimi for being part of the team! I am one of the Americans celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow. I am thankful for a lot of things and I am especially thankful that I found out that I have ADD. I have been struggling all of my nearly 60 years and now I am finding out that I still have to struggle with stuff but knowing why helps soo much. I still often wish I didn’t have it but that’s another post. Now if you could just fix… :-)

    Hey Jimi,
You nailed it my friend!!! Great Job!! Congratulations on your first blog, if you hadn’t mentioned that it was your first, I never would have known. Well Done! There is so much to be thankful for, in spite of all that is going on.
Everyone of us should do just as you said, and purposefully take the time to remind ourselves and those around us, that it is important to stop and smile and give thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and like you Jimi I also am thankful for this website. It is a real help in a time of trouble. Thank you Rick and Ava for your foresight and vision.
Oh and Jimi, I just spoke to Rick and he says that it is great if you want to “repay him” , he said something about small unmarked bills and a brown manila envelope…. :)
You know I am just teasing you Jimi, but he really did say something about a bag of money….

    Hi Jimi:
You made me laugh hard! Too much hanging around with Rick…huh?
I like everything you say and how you say it. Happy Thanksgiving to all our fellow American ADDers!
I am truly thankful for this site.
    God Bless

Lovely thoughts for everyone, not just ADD’ers. As an educator, I have raved about your website to one and all, some of whom struggle to stay focussed long enough to listen! Keep up the great work and I promise not to send (knowingly) a link to buy a purse!

Some smart-aleck Canadian once said that Canadian Thanksgiving is earlier than American Thanksgiving because we have that much less to be thankful for…

Wait, you were getting paid? Oh man, Ava’s got some explaining to do.

:) Can you write one about Cyber Monday too???? Thank you, I’m thankful for all my internet friends that make it fun or at least tolerable to be productive in uninteresting things, like paperwork.

Thanks everyone! I hope you had a good Thanksgiving! And I hope no one actually clicked on that link

Loved what you wrote Jimi and I wonder how many members clicked on that link after you said “I hope no one actually clinked on that link”. I must admit I did… I couldn’t help myself. Remember this is an ADHD website…a wet paint sign actually means “check to see if it’s still wet.” And… It’s not thanksgiving anymore but I am also very thankful for Rick and Ava…and you of course!
Okay …Hands up to everyone that clicked this link because you were told not to?
