I’m a classically trained singer, a bass baritone to be exact. I have a BA double honours in Music and Theatre that took me ten years (before diagnosis of ADD) to complete. My love for the craft is the only thing that kept me going! I sing primarily opera, but also dabble in musical theatre and jazz.

I also play the trumpet (and it’s derivatives) and the french horn fairly well, and I’m self taught on piano and guitar.

So yes. Another musician in the house. ;)

Alrighty. I’m on to the part where the medication is “working”. I followed your advice and got a kitchen timer… one with three different timers built in, and it’s changing my life. Love it! Also trying to follow my schedule, or at least keeping to it loosely, so I don’t get lost. I consider it as more of a “to do list” schedule.

I don’t much care for ticking timers either. I’m also trying to stay away from my cellphone as a timer, because the whole thing is just a tiny little distraction box.

I went out and got a kitchen timer from the local cooking store. Not a ticking one, no, but an electric one with a digital countdown and THREE TIMERS. When it’s not acting as a time, it acts as a clock, which is just fine and dandy. The little guy has just about saved my life.

Not literally. But, it is a VERY helpful too. I highly recommend it.

So. This is my first post! Wow. I watched ADD and loving it on PBS one day. It was like I had been sitting in the dark and someone turned on a light! I found my way to this website, and from there… did the screening test. I made an appointment with my family doctor the following week, and now I have a referral to a psychiatrist on the 4th of Feb! I’m very excited about the possibilities of treatment!

Anyway! Back on topic… I found this thread REALLY enlightening. It filled me with hope, and just that sense of recognition… that I’m not alone! I’m a kid at heart, and by the sounds of it… probably always will be. I love it!

    Good to be here. :D
