OH, I FORGOT WE HAD ONE OF THESE!
“Oh, I forgot we had this hot-air popcorn maker!”
“Oh, I didn’t know we owned all these old picture frames.”
“Hey, look! We have a single bed. I forgot about this.”…

In my previous Blog I noted, somewhat awkwardly, that knowing I have a place for my car keys doesn’t mean they’re always there. Or, when life gets nuts, even mostly there. For example, ahem, I’ve had to borrow Ava’s key for the past two weeks. Not the end of the world. And yet, as I noted in the previous blog, it can fee like it. ADHD can be such a pain. Knowing what’s going on doesn’t automatically prevent me from making the same mistakes over and over again. And again.
When I browse through our Forums I’m always amazed at the brilliant stories about the difference the ADHD diagnosis has made. For better and worse. In our DVD, Embracing the Diagnosis, we explore the kaleidoscope of anger, regret, relief, and hope that we all stumble through, like a drunk in a Carnival Fun House….
“I don’t know where the day went,” used to be a familiar lament of mine.
Eventually, I stopped long enough to find out where it went. Because I really was missing it.
I realized that the day doesn’t go anywhere. I do.
And where do I go?
Although I have a University degree in Physics, which I put to good use whenever the Science & Nature category comes up on a game of Trivial Pursuit, the fact is I actually have a Master’s Degree and a lifetime of personal experience in the field of Procrastination. You should see me in my graduation photo… which I’ll get done someday….
Money. Why don’t we ever have enough of it? And why does what we do have to keep disappearing? Is it really the economy? Or competition from China and India? Or Wall Street playing fast and loose with our savings? Perhaps. Probably. That’s part of it, I’m sure…
I need to be 5 different people. Or hire 5 different people!
The overwhelm I have been feeling over everything that needs doing finally forced me to actually use some of the ADHD tools I have learned.
(ASIDE: Why is it I only turn to the tools when I’m in overwhelm? Rather than use them all the time? Sigh!)
We are back home after a week in San Francisco. 4 days were spent at the CHADD conference speaking with some legendary figures and conducting 19, count them, 19 interviews. We hired a great local crew and taped some powerful stuff. At some points, our hotel suite was almost like the waiting room of a doctor’s office, only it was full of doctors, waiting to be interviewed…
We’re off to see the Wizard. Actually the Wizards. The Wizards of ADHD.
Russell Barkley, Ned Hallowell, Rosemary Tannock and dozens more.
Hundreds, perhaps thousands of people who have or deal with ADHD are coming together this week…
Last week we drove to Boston to do a show at the PBS station WGBH. They’re going to be running our new documentary, ADD & Mastering It!. A big coup for us! After that we were off to Albany and the PBS station WMHT. In between, Jimi and I paid a visit to ADHD legend Dr. Edward ’Ned’ Hallowell. We talked and talked and talked…
