You know i am 52 years old and the way i got started on this ADD journey was being tested for Dyxlesia .

I competed a week of training when the coach sat me down that i probaly had ADD .

Then it took a another year untill my wife sat me down said we have to get you tested and here we are .

All was trying to say is that we all know that deep down we have ADD , we buy books , tapes and anything else to improve ourselves but did not know it was waste of time and money without the help of this WEB site , drug aids and coaching .

Things make more sense . :D

    Hi Remax,

Welcome , My doctor slowly increased my dosage , making sure my Blood pressure was ok everytime he increased my dosage .

I am now on 30mg Biphentin for the last 3 months .

I think i may ask to go up to 40mg when i see him next week .

I know how you feel , everything was so overwhelming .

Go get diagnosed , and get on with the rest of your life.

    Cheers

Thats to bad Megatron , My doc slowly increased my dosage and i was lucky not to have any side affects .

Over the week between Christmas and New years i had some kind of infection , up and down fevers swollen glangs and headaches .Desicided to not take my Bipthentin for a couple of days, went for a coffee with my wife and friend and i was totally blown away on how i felt .

Decaf coffee , but i was 10 times as bad as the Dog on Up .

I was not making eye contact with anybody even when they were talking to me , i was looking out the window , infact i could not concentrate on anything .

When we left my wife and i talked about what happened ,it was weired like a out of the body experience .

The weird thing was i knew excatly what was happening .

I know i went cold turkey , but if i was half that bad before the drugs i now know why i had no friends and bad relationships .

Back on track now , and would thank my wife for starting on this journey to get a handle on this condition .(Is condition the right word)

    Cheers

    Hi Everybody ,

I just had a thought , it is that enviromental conditions in your bedroom can really affect your sleep.

The main one in the winter is humidifaction , dry and bloody nose and having to breathing through your mouth are not good for sleeping .

Apartment buildings are are the worst .

A humidifier in your bedroom or on your furnace will make a big difference in my sleep habits .

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Rick ,

    I enjoy your work .

Thanks for the insite , i also have Dyslexia and i attend some one on one workshops for that , and took some information from that helps now .

    1. Dial down the inner speak

    2. Bring things back to focus with you mind eye

3 skips my mind for now LOL

Another thing i have found myself doing which everybody should do , is not trying to control things that you have no control over .

I can not control my patent application and parts delivery that goes a stray , i can shout and stamp my feet and piss off a bunch of over people but what does it really do ,nothing but put my blood preasure up .

And i think thats where i get undone .

I am doing the 5min interval thing and things are getting done .

    Hi SkyGypsy

Thanks for your insight , my wife is wonderfull person and i know that her frustration is partly with me but also the healthcare system

for dragging there feet for getting my diagnosis ,and getting me started on treatment , i have two freinds that just went to there GPs and prescribed ADD drugs straight away .

I have worked in the HVAC industry since i was 16 years old ,I am great at the emergencies terrible at the mundane stuff.

So i tend to wait untill the flame are at the door before i did anything about it , this has improved a lot since my diagnosis.

    Again thanks for insight

    Cheers

    Costco has the best price.

Dr J , I understand that no caffiene , quiet time before bed and good diet are the best way to go.

As you know when you loose a couple of nights of good sleep it gets in your head you try to hard and its like a snow ball rolling down a hill .

I use Super sleep only when i get that way and cant get the ZZZZ’s i need .

Do you know anybody in the Burlington / hamilton area that councils adults with ADD

    Cheers
