@lanakila000 THis is my idea, clean out your garage for a yard sale and perhaps you’ll have some money for your other projects.
Great thread with lots of positive, PRO-ACTIVE vs pro-crastination going on.
As for myself I have a dungeon (junk room) that needs a transformation into a kids play room with a few piles of hotspots (indecision) that need to be sorted and either 1. thrown away 2. given away or 3. found a home for.
I’m starring my calendar for a new room by March 31st, and I’ve backdated so I know I have 26 days from today to complete it. If I do 15minutes a day I KNOW it’ll will be where I need it to be by then. I’m favoriting this thread so I can report in.
Thanks Tiddler!

Totally understand the completely overwhelmed chicken with missing head feeling….a suggestion…
google the four square to do list from Covey. I just pulled up this one quickly for you to get the idea
http://tinobox.com/wordpress/productivity/todo-sorting-by-coveys-and-blanchardquadrant/
Complete it and perhaps you’ll be able look at it and share with your new coach which problems are “important and due soon” that you need to address first .
Let us know how it goes/went?

And it’s terrific to be surrounded by people who appreciate you.
@Amy Great to “see” another fan of http://www.flylady.net without them giving me the tools I need to be successful, I’d be so much less than what I am now.
@Tea I hope it’s going well. Best wishes,
REPORT ABUSEI need to ask if @carsonky ‘s Sharpie and @Robbo ‘s check book have ever returned from their sci-fi teleporting romp to other galaxies ?

Please reach out to me if I can help in anyway? You can find me on twitter at http://www.twitter.com/flybabymoni
REPORT ABUSEFebruary 17, 2012 at 4:54 pm in reply to: coach or parrasite .. how do i find out short of buying in? #112211Actually @Robbo, there are most assuredly REAL men who use the fly system, remember that old song, “And all the ladies say I’m really FLY for a …Guy?”
For you to skip the “touchie feelie” stuff, you can get a grasp of it and the routines by printing out the student control journal to start with…http://www.flylady.net/i/pdf/student_coj.pdf and the home maintenance journal….http://www.flylady.net/i/pdf/home-maint_coj.pdf
and (if your finances have suffered like mine from neglect and mis-management) a peek at the FACE financial journal http://www.flylady.net/i/doc/face_coj.doc
They are all copyrighted so if you like them enough to share please credit the source http://www.flylady.net
And finally, (not knowing if you are in a romantic relationship or not, but if you are) You definitely need to know that the five SEXIEST words a woman can hear are….”Honey, I did the dishes.”
As all the ladies here can back me up….You absolutely do NOT turn in your “man card” when you help around the house.
Let me know how it goes?
Monika
P.S. And for a dose of testosterone you can always check in with the guys at http://www.heytom.net the y chromosome counterparts of http://www.flylady.net

Please go check on http://www.flylady.net it’s a wonderful home and life maintenance website that is completely free. *full disclosure* they are able to keep it free by selling “Flylady tools” but you NEVER have to buy them. Neat things like timers, calendars, etc. but ALL the information is free.
If you check it out, contact me if you have any questions there is also lots of support/ motivation and guidance on Facebook and twitter and of course ….HERE!
Best wishes,
Monika
REPORT ABUSEI found it! It was with my gift card from Christmas 2010 underneath the unpaid water bill from May 2011 in the purse I stop using in 2009….go figure. (teasing )

I can tell you love your brother very much and want to help him as much as you can. Please realize that his success and/or especially his failure is not completely dependent on you. You’ll want to offer him as many coping skills and strategies possible so that he can become more independent and responsible. You want to make time for yourself as you have your life to live and he must needs be responsible for his.
My recommendation is that you invite him to join us here so he can learn he is not alone in his struggles and he can share his experiences with “like-minded” folk and learn from and with us.
Best wishes and keep in touch,
M
REPORT ABUSEThis may be more a matter of limited attention span, poor memory and challenges with active listening.
I have a book recommend that I hope may be helpful, it’s call “The One- Minute Manager” and involves someone taking minutes and sending it out after office meetings so everyone has the meeting in print with everyone’s responsibilities, timelines and accountability clearly defined.
For one on one conversations (and if your a visual learner) you can email them with, “it was great talking with you today. I just wanted to clarify what we needed done and when…”(then list what you remember and they can respond with any crucial details you might have missed.
I really think it’s more a matter of MISSED communication than “Snow Jobs” and I hope my suggestions are helpful.
Great thread, thanks for starting it!
REPORT ABUSEDoes anyone do the four quadrant to do list by Covey? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Things_First_(book)
It sometimes helps me get on the task I need to be on rather than the one that is due soon(urgent) but not important.

Are you an auditory or a visual learner?
If you are an auditory learner and want REALLY fast results you can try the crisis cleaning podcast or the weekly home blessing podcast from http://www.flylady.net
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/flylady-tools/2008/04/04/crisis-cleaning
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/flylady-tools/2008/04/08/weekly-home-blessing-hour
If I have posted these before, please forgive me. They are the best way I know to put cleaning (house blessing) on “automatic”.
Her holiday control journal is also invaluable to me during the insanity of this time of year:

Best wishes and we’ll be watching for updates,

TASK: Cleaning mountain of paper from underneath bedroom nightstand
ESTIMATED TIME:
Half an hour
I got a garbage bag and proceeded to root through pile taking clumps at a time and going through it. Found some mementos from kids to put in my “Happiness File” and made a pile for financial papers and bring to work papers. Retrieved a tote for financial papers.
RESULT: Much less clutter in bedroom is better for sleep.
ACTUAL TIME:
2-3 hours
OBSTACLE: I wanted to do something else, anything else but since I found stuff from LAST YEAR, it was time to go through it.
TREASURE:
Financial papers, a $30 dollar overdue library book that I was “SURE” I returned and then grumblingly paid for two weeks ago (oops!) but most exciting a $30.00 Gift Certificate that I bought last December for a manicure! Woohoo!!!
TIP THAT WORKED FOR ME : Listened to an interesting audiobook helped keep me in the room and pleasantly distracted while still productive in this numbing decluttering task.
REPORT ABUSEand P.S. the student control journal a free download from http://www.flylady.net is a great tool for learning time management and routines, geared for children I confess to referring to it for motivation when needed .
