I just bought 4 books of poems for children, (three of which are from clever Jack Prelutsky) very funny and *GASP* sneakily educational. My 3rd grader read last night “ghastly” without hesitation. One book from Prelutsky teaches the children how to write poems which I hope may be more motivating than the required school essays for my extremely reluctant 8 year old writer.
REPORT ABUSECool SDWA, of those four which did you enjoy or help you the most?
REPORT ABUSEThanks Caper!

Please check out the student control journal on http://www.flylady.net the link to the control journals is here: http://www.flylady.net/pages/control_journals.asp
Perhaps ask a friend who is a good note taker to get a copy of their class notes. Figure out the best way that you learn, visual, auditory, kinestic and then use that method to study, flashcards, voice memos on your favorite electronic device or studying while playing basketball or doing a physical activity
Best wishes,
Monika
REPORT ABUSEPaully, Please tell your sister Hi from a fellow “FlyBaby”. She is one smart cookie. And speaking of food… Leanne (saving dinner) has menu plans for any type of eating, low carb or heart healthy or frugal, even (I think) some Gluten-free meal plans. Bon Appetit!
Carrie, Please give us some feedback? Best wishes,
REPORT ABUSEHi Carrie,
I have several coaches and they are free but are invaluable to me.
http://www.flylady.net is one, she’s been around helping close to a million people around the world with organization, time management and home/financial routines.
this site is another.
And then I have
http://www.noexcusesworkouts.com for exercise
http://www.savingdinner.com for meal planning (while the meal menus do have a nominally fee, she- Leanne Ely- also has a http://www.blogtalkradio.com podcast that’s free)
Let me know if you have any questions?
Best wishes, M
REPORT ABUSEHi No_Dop,
I love online banking too. And I do well. Although, I have been known to pay twice on my house phone bill and miss a cell phone payment (curse you AT&T same but different). If I can’t find a bill which truthfully doesn’t happen often-I still know when it needs to be paid via on-line bill pay and tend to over-pay just to make sure I’m sending enough. I’m probably the only person who does that.
I am learning, doing and LOVING Dave Ramsey’s My Total Money Makeover. I am becoming a much better steward of our money and am learning “to tell my money where to go instead of wondering where it went.”
It’s a great financial babystep tool for any other distracted souls out there who are in charge of the checkbook.
Thanks for the tip though, I’ll try to notice if I start doing the “let sleeping bills lie or wander” instead of “hot potato bill” treatment.
REPORT ABUSEMs.,
Sometimes people with ADD marry people without, that whole opposites attract, “They complete me” deal. Handy when it comes to remembering where you’ve put your car keys, a little harder because they have little to no understanding of the sidetracked mind, (of course marrying a fellow ADDer, you’d get more sympathy but perhaps never be able to drive your car…) anyway my point is sometimes when we can’t do one thing well, we THINK and FEEL that we can’t do anything right. Very untrue.
Why not take a babystep? My favorite time management and organizational website might help you find a victory, http://www.flylady.net
It’s a massive website but the small steps to greatness are all there and like the beautiful website community that Rick has for us here, their information is free.
Keep in touch and let us know how you do?

REPORT ABUSEJune 2, 2011 at 7:26 pm in reply to: "Why we get fat and what to do about it?" Book discussion anyone? #104490It’s basically advocates a high protein low carbohydrate deal (but it’s not a diet book-just details numerous research studies into how our bodies feed themselves and store or use fat based on insulin levels and blood sugar.
Interesting definitely, interesting.
Will be exploring eating less carbs but still some of the puzzle pieces are missing I think.
REPORT ABUSEI’m in Nellie, is there a time frame to report in?
I’ve found checks not deposited, 6months old or older.
My imperfect plan now is that when I DO get the mail (not daily but often enough), there is a trash can outside the house for obvious junk mail, a shredder by my door so all those credit card offers get properly “filed” and the rest gets MOSTLY dealt with although I do need a home for bills as they tend to wander away.
REPORT ABUSEGoing to the Grand Canyon in a few weeks with family and am feeling a bit nervous about it. I’ll use your tips about asking hotel staff about “must see”s Rick, Thanks!
REPORT ABUSEJayBird? How is your teaching going? Just wanted to tell you that The behavior website that you like has some new internet radio shows, she’s doing the “Dolls of Behavior” so each doll/cartoon character has a behavior. “Bite Me Barbie”,”Cussing Cookie Monster” and “Karate Ken” are particularly informative and entertaining. http://www.behaviordoctor.org
