Emotional SENSITIVITY – A Small Trigger Sets Off a Huge Explosion

By totallyaddauthor

Before I understood my ADHD, when I’d make small mistakes and they were pointed out, I’d often brush them off, miffed, ‘Whatever! You get the point.’ I felt like, ‘I’ve created the Mona Lisa for God’s sake, who cares if the frame has a chip in it!? Nitpickers! Critics! Complainers!’ By the way being ‘overly sensitive’ and ‘prone to drama’ are very common for many of us.

Don’t Believe Everything You Think

By totallyaddauthor

BY RICK GREEN
There’s a meme that keeps popping up on Facebook that has a great deal of wisdom in it: ‘Don’t believe everything you think.’ That simple phrase popped into my head when we were interviewing Dr. Edward ‘Ned’ Hallowell at his home in Massachusetts. I had driven down to Boston to appear on WGBH, the local PBS station, when they debuted our program, ADD & Mastering It! Running the gauntlet of pushy, loud, hucksters, screaming in your face is more than a little annoying. I felt like I was in the football game, a running back trying to break through the defensive line. Without the actual contact. More like Flag Football. I’m digressing, aren’t I?…

10 Tips to Achieving Focus in Today’s Busy Workplace

By Edward (Ned) Hallowell, Psychiatrist

1. Do The Impossible. People focus most intently when they take on a challenge, when they are working in an area where they are skilled, but where they are also stretched. Often, amazingly enough, what seemed impossible becomes possible. 2. Trust Your Way. Perhaps the single most clichéd song lyric ever…

Marijuana Myths

By Team TotallyADD

By adulthood everyone has found tools to cope and manage their ADHD, whether it has been diagnosed or not. Some self-medicate with addictions to work, sex, dangerous activities, high risk sports. But many also end up using illicit drugs. As Doctor Sam Chang explains, the number on choice for ADHD folks is Cannabis. And though marijuana has always been surrounded by myths, in fact, the more ‘enlightened and informed’ of us are simply accepting a whole new set of myths.
