I can sympathize with the difficulty of waking up. It’s worse if I go to bed too late. I just kind of integrate the sound of the alarm into my dream 🙂

The phone does work pretty well at waking me up though. Is there someone you can get to call you to force you to get up? If it’s someone who knows you have to get up they’ll know not to  hang up until you answer.

Never mind the keys,  I once misplaced the entire car and reported it stolen 🙂

Called the police and the officer who came to take the report was very nice. He kept asking me if was sure I hadn’t parked it somewhere else than I thought. I insisted it was missing. He took the report and was joking about how his mother had once reported her car stolen when she really had forgotten where she had parked it. When he finished taking the report he requested I get in the cruiser and drive around with him.I directed him to the place I thought I had parked it and then he said lets go another block further. The street was curvy and as we came around the bend – Voila! I was pretty embarrassed needless to say!

Hey it works for me Scatty 🙂 Interesting article. If I have a day where I don’t take any meds and start to be hampered by my low motivation as  a result, I go to the cupboard for a fix of chocolate. It tends to help get me going again. Now if only they could make chocolate without calories but  that still tastes the same 🙂

Also interesting that they mention thinking about chocolate as having the same effect. Perhaps I  need a poster of chocolate hanging in every room  🙂

Wow can’t believe I missed it!

I did this last year and it was a total blast. Can’t believe the stuff I spent a week doing including roasting a ken and barbie doll in my back yard 🙂 However, it was later in the year – end of September or early October, can’t remember but was intending to do it again. Nevertheless, it was the most nonsensical fun I have had in years!

Make sure to order the t-shit and souvenir book. I only got the t-shirt and am sorry not to have ordered the book to see what other people were up to.

    Hi Trashman,

Yes they did away with the premium membership but also never charged anyone either. Here’s the  blog explaining what happened:

But I guess you can’t stop spam regardless – some things never change 🙂

    Hi Tiddler!

I made a recent effort to clean up my office space and realized that my old desk was way too big. It was on of those huge L-shaped things and  perfect for allowing me to just keep piling things on it  until working on it became impossible. As a result I would end up working everywhere but there. Long story short, I ended up    getting rid of it and replacing it with a much smaller glass topped one. It can only hold my laptop,an extra large monitor , my ren-tablet and a pen/pencil holder etc. It doesn’t have any drawers because I know I’d just fill. It forces me to keep it tidy. I actually am more productive when I work on it although I still tend to drag my laptop all over the place. However, when I notice I’m being un-productive I go back to the desk . I actually like working at it despite that I  assumed being in one spot would cause me to be restless.

My printer, scanner & filing cabinet area all in ideal  reach when I am seated at the desk as well so I don’t have to get up. My extra stationary supplies are in reach in one of the those rolling 7-drawer units  Although my system is still a work in progress because the room overhaul was a massive under-taking, I feel like I’ve made quite a lot of progress.

I highly recommend using a proper desk.

Well this was fun to read after all this time. I had completely forgotten ever starting this post!

I’m back on coffee though and can’t function without it to help kick start the day!

    Wow what a topic!

Larynxa makes an excellent point about goals and introspection . I find myself much like Rick mentioned, often  relieved instead of happy with an outcome. However, if I am conscious of how my action fits into a larger picture then I can appreciate it for what it is.

When I started on this journey  of discovery after my ADHD diagnosis and re-examining my life in context of the diagnosis and what it means to my everyday experience, I  suddenly found my self trying to define my values. I swear I had no clue what I valued and what made me happy. Sure, I knew that family was important to me but seriously I had no clue about the rest. Little did I realize that the other “stuff” served to round it out. For example, when I realized that I also valued adventure and craved some way to fulfill that requirement, it became obvious that I needed to add it in to my lifestyle in order to feel happy. There are other values as well and some rank higher than others.

Another example, I also feel a strong need to be involved in my community. However, anyone who has ever done any volunteer work knows how quickly it can suck in your time. Well in my case, while something I valued, I knew that I had to limit my involvement and learn to say no in order to remain balanced. This makes it much easier to take on projects or not. It took me a while to get other people to respect my limits though!

Obviously, there are many reasons why one could be unhappy but I  think the starting point is  to know what would make our life complete – a wish list of sorts. I think defining values is a key to this.

Here’s a random list to start..

Well my natural inclination is to come up with an idea and then expect others to be as enthusiastic as I am. In order to give people an opportunity to feel involved in a  decision or project  I have found that if I go in to a meeting with the mindset that I am presenting a “loose” idea for feedback and am asking for their help in fleshing it out, I often get total agreement and also some great ideas to add to it. I also try to mentally step back from an idea in order to grasp my own attachment to it. I ask myself is it really the “thing” I’m committed to or is it my own ego and need for control that drives a  particular method or approach? Not easy. But if you take it one meeting at a time then eventually it will become easier.

Well you know, if you shortened it a  bit and took out the mention of ADD you might be on to something 🙂

Amy I’m having the same issue with the greyed out menu.Logging in and out doesn’t seem to make a difference . No matter where I start on the site I am logged in when I click around. This started last night actually when I tried to click on a “premium” video and couldn’t watch it. I tried  clearing my browser but nothing  changed.  I have the same issue in both Safari and Firefox. The only difference in Firefox things look a little wonky with the layout and there’s a vertical menu on the left side on one of the pages that’s not there in Safari but none of the links work. So I guess I’ll have to stick to the regular forums for now until they fix all the programming glitches.. Oh well… premium was fun while it lasted 🙂

I’m not ranting but am wondering if anyone has figured out the sequence for logging in to the site then trying to access the premium features? It always shows me as logged in whether I’m in the regular forum section or the premium section so that doesn’t seem to be the problem as in the past. Today I can’t access any of the group stuff and everything on the nav menu  is greyed out except for Forums, My Profile and NewsFeed. I’ve given up on contacting the bug people because I never get a response – I assume they are overwhelmed with work so haven’t gotten to it. Nevertheless, this is starting to be an added chore  just to log in  and never mind try and post anything. I only have so much time to procrastinate from what I’m supposed to be doing during the day that I’ll have to start factoring in time for technical glitches just to get my dose of Form browsing 🙂

    Hi Rick,

Looks like a lot of interesting topics.

What else comes to mind is probably a combination of  parts of #3 – Denial- Defending your diagnosis & treatment choices. Advocating. Standing up to bullies. Setting limits and #15.The DSM-V and what it means:

Specifically, I would love to have a workshop where we all work on  developing  an ADD  related  15 sec elevator speeche explaining  ADD. It would be great to have a snappy response to those annoying people we’ve all run into who just know it’s all in our head or that medications are going to turn us into zombies or whatever.

Can you use your television skills and teach us all to talk in snippy sound bites 🙂
