I”M with sarge – those work great, and it can be done with just one hand while you drive, flip channels on the TV, whatever.

I need to floss, and should do it much more. It never really bothers me, but it’s difficult. Some teeth are spaced apart, some really close, and to get my hands into my mouth, well, won’t go there.

I’ve got really good teeth and want to keep ’em that way……… honestly, it’s one of my fears, besides suffocation is losing my teeth. Weird. It’s like since they are a part of my skull, they have something to do with life itself, connected to the human brain, so I don’t want to become toothless.

I’m ok with me for the most part – but I know I can do more, accomplish more, and – I have to have and keep a job! So it’s partly what and who we are, but we still have to survive in a “normal world”, well, I think WE are normal, the rest of the world is not.

It’s the rest of the world that’s all screwed up. We’re fine. They need to get over it…

Then I wake up and reality hits- I have to work to survive, to pay the bills and eat. I have to get my work done, and “get along”.

Plus, even thought I’m mostly happy – I know I can be more and do so much more and accomplish so much more.

I don’t really like painting houses, or doing body work – after a while, it’s boring and I want to move on. I hyper-focus for only so long – then it’s on to something else that’s faster or more interesting.

I earned a lot of college money painting cars – a former dealer made me a deal – he’d kept his license so he’d go buy cars, bring them to me, I’d fix whatever needed fixing, repaint them, and he’d sell them. We’d split the profit 50-50.

I could do it then, can’t so much now……….. not to mention the other stuff I have to do, and the lack of space. Brand new shop and it’s already FULL!

    >>i’m a nail biter… oooh! bubble pop!…. and am currently trying…. found some bubble pop here at work!…. to stop biting my nails.

    hee hee

    <<

    And this one:

    >> chew up the inside of my mouth–it’s not bad–I don’t make it bleed or anything, <<

ROFLM*O – the dental gal asked me last time ” do you chew the inside of your mouth” and I asked why “never mind, you DO don’t you”.

Yes, and I live for bubble wrap since I no longer have pimples to deal with and once the skin is chewed……… I’m out of stuff to do.

I hardly ever have grease under my nails after working on my cars as my nails are too short!

Yes, seems I have hundreds of brothers and sisters my parents failed to tell me about…….

I constantly change my mind on my cars – but once the project is done, I don’t change it except to improve it. Maybe I found a better match for the original shade of black…….. maybe I decide to powdercoat instead of paint. I was going to rebuild the original Eagle engine and opted for a Jeep engine transplanted into it instead. One fellow told me to NOT paint my own Javelin as they knew that it would take 10 years, I’d never be happy enough with it, and I’d go nuts trying to get it “good enough”. They were right.

I’ve had the intake off the Javelin 4 times as I can’t decide – Edelbrock aluminum, or factory original cast? Started with the edelbrock – it sits too high so I can’t use a spacer under the carb as the air cleaner hits the ram air hood. So I pull it off, put the factory intake on and can use the spacer and all – but that’s not good, just doesn’t feel right to have this group 19 factory aluminum intake there and not be using it. So I pull the factory cast intake back off and put the AMC numbered group 19 Edelbrock intake back on. Now I can’t use the spacer again and boil the fuel in the carb. Can’t decide how to solve that issue.

But when folks bring THEIR cars to me, I’ve got them fixed up in short order – very little indecision.

The eagle sits waiting for me to install the new fuel lines and put an electric pump on for the EFI – can’t decide – in-tank pump, or frame mounted? So I don’t run the new line.

I sold my Yamaha 750 a few years ago so I could afford another engine – a rather rare 1912 Canadian engine – a Chapman. 7 hp and 2,000 pounds.

Anyway, seriously, can symptoms change, get worse or get better as we age?

it will straighten out and winter will end and spring will come and things will turn green again…………

Downer: the months after Christmas when all is quiet and lonely and there’s no excitement, no holidays (work work work) and it’s too cold to go work on my cars or in my shop and I’m stuck doing, aarrgghh – paperwork and tax stuff!

HAH – now you see one of my symptoms – impulsive, and I jump…………….

One of my favorite movie scenes that pretty much covers the above:

McCoy: Perhaps, we could cover a little philosophical ground. Life

    [pause]

    McCoy: Death

    [pause]

    McCoy: Life.

    [pause]

    McCoy: Things of that nature.

Spock: I did not have time on Vulcan to review the philosophical disciplines.

McCoy: C’mon, Spock, it’s me, McCoy. You really have gone where no man’s gone before. Can’t you tell me what it felt like?

Spock: It would be impossible to discuss the subject without a common frame-of-reference.

    McCoy: You’re joking!

    Spock: A joke

    [pause]

Spock: is a story with a humorous climax.

McCoy: You mean I have to die to discuss your insights on death?

Spock: Forgive me, Doctor. I am receiving a number of distress calls.

    McCoy: I don’t doubt it.

Well, I can’t afford the spindle seals and power steering hoses for my project car, so no use running the new fuel line or dropping the fuel tank to put in the baffle (which I already have)

Can’t afford the new dashpad for the Javelin, so no use pulling the battery for winter or starting to take it apart.

No use cleaning the shop up – I’m going to get it dirty again anyway. If I clean off the workbench in the garage, I’ll then have to find a place to keep all the stuff that is on the bench. I don’t enjoy that, it’s hard to make decisions so I won’t bother cleaning the bench (which I really don’t mind doing at all)

there’s something preventing me from doing something else – not already fully related.

It’s too cold to unbox and take the new table saw up to my wood shop, so no use going up and taking photos of the old so I can post it on craigslist is there?

full grown men aren’t supposed to laugh out loud? (but anyone can post profanity on a public forum visible to the kids)

Luckily we ban such language and terminate membership on the spot…… (we have some 12 and 14 year old members)

Guess I”m confused – we’re not support to laugh but we can swear……. :-/

I hang out with guys who drive 500-700 hp cars down a quarter mile strip at times reaching 180 mph, swapping transmissions and engine parts in the field before the next run – we laugh out loud, and use LOL in the car forums, and drag racing forums. We use ROFL, ROFLMAO, ROFLMFAO, LOL, and any number of “phrases” that have now pretty much become mainstream internet/forum talk. Guess this blue-collar son of a factory worker has never seen an issue with it. Guys that can swear up a blue streak with the best of any rednecks can also laugh and have fun and joke around……..

Back on tabs and open windows ->

We often have to tell the folks at work – quit streaming radio, close 20 of your browsers, or reboot your computer, it will run much faster.

guess they don’t get that a desk can only hold so many papers on it before things start to fall off. Luckily I’m not the one on the phone, im the one telling the help desk folks what to tell the users that open 100 items and won’t reboot for a month then gripe about slow performance.

I agree on the “new posts” button…. that really comes in handy for an active forum and busy people.

    We have one – here’s the site/forum I run:

    http://theamcforum.com/forum

The entry page, designed by my son, a professional web designer and advertising person, working for Gannett publishing company (the ads on cars.com – many of them are by him)

Here’s the entry or home page for the forum:

    http://theamcforum.com

Unfortunately, my OWN home page for personal use is acting up..

From a design standpoint, for signage, etc., black text on a canary background is proven to be the most visible….. but certainly not great for a web site.

I understand that different eyes have different needs, and certainly can’t argue that you should have no issues with these colors….

The text size you’ll find is pretty standard for almost all forums. i’m a member of several forums, mostly automotive, several computer, internet and security related sites, some have SMALLER text! Not saying it’s ok, or good, etc. – not by any means. Just saying – compared to quite a few, this one is pretty “standard” and I wonder if the colors were not chosen on purpose to relax. Colors have everything to do with mood. I get really wound up with certain colors, myself.

I believe it’s certainly worthwhile for everyone to have their say and the site owners do what’s best for the majority, or for the site type. It that means it’s no longer these colors, so be it ;-)

    (yes, we need smilies, etc.)

Whew – no offense, but you must not have all that I have, or my son does, or you’d want it under control.

I’ve tried things – organizational methods (PDA/phone, those classes, etc.) and frankly, nothing works. It’s cost me a lot, INCLUDING A SON! (a son I’ll never ever see or hug again)

It cost HIM his freedom and multiple relationships. I heard a rumor that he’s back on meds and somewhat under control, but I’ll never know for sure.

Parts of it are not a problem, but parts of it are. Parts really “tick others off”, and I’m lucky some friends put up with it.

When it’s as severe and “over the edge” as I am – yeah, it’s a problem. And the other problem I see is that others want to argue when I want that part of me helped.

If you had chronic back pain, would you not want some sort of help? If you had tinnitus (and I do) you’d know – yeah, you can live with it, and other days, you want to ram a stick into your head to make it stop! (William Shatner wanted to commit suicide over it)

I miss important talk, I have to ask others to constantly repeat things, I have to read pages of books 2 or 3 times – I don’t see that as a positive. I”m smart, active, and have a lot of abilities I’d not have otherwise, maybe, but there’s the negatives, too.

I can’t hear that one person in a room with several people – can’t sort one voice from the “din”. I’m quite accident prone and it’s nearly cost me a hand, and my life more than once. Some day, I’ll miss that car horn, that siren, or the train……..

I’ve tried the “coaching” stuff, and I’ve picked up a little, but frankly, my symptoms are so extreme, and I have all the “multi” stuff (a perfect 100% score on the test here – a resounding YES to all questions)………….

Let’s just say – if I find a doc who believes I need some medical help, I’ll start there, and that might make me more willing, or able to use the other tools, perhaps then I can move on to other methods. But for now, after all these years, all these jobs, being yelled at, divorced, etc. – no, I refuse to just live with it now.

It’s that “where are we going, and what am I doing in this handbasket” feeling – I know it well.

It too, shall pass. Been through a couple of divorces and I get SO emotionally “attached” – beyond “Normal love” that I was a total basket case. I look back now and think, gee, I was a total idiot, a bumbling fool then, wasn’t I” and determine to not do it again. I probably would, but I like to think that sometimes I learn……

    >>but also the healthcare system

for dragging there feet for getting my diagnosis ,and getting me started on treatment<<

YES YES YES. Not on the ADD, but on other things, I’ve made my rounds and they STILL don’t get it. Since 2 years ago, my neck feels swollen, and when I lay on my back I can’t breathe or swallow. when I turn my head, my throat feels like it’s closing off. My throat hurts and feels dry a lot, and I have a LOT of trouble eating = swallowing certain foods – need water to wash it down. It started suddenly. Things get stuck in my throat. But 2 GPs and 2 ENTs swear I look just fine, not a thing wrong. Oh, then why did the gal at the dentist office comment on how my throat looked while she was cleaning my teeth??

I guess they really are just practicing then…….

RESPECTFULLY, I disagree, and will back my OPINIONS, such as they are:

I find the colors relaxing for a change………. which I need badly. No bold red, no bright distracting colors, no flashing images or moving text. THANK YOU! I feel more relaxed here than at the car forum I RUN myself (with some moderators helping)

This is a calm relaxing place. Again, my opinion only, yours may vary……….

I agree with the lack of search, however, on forums that are in the world for a little while, google will allow you to search by domain.

So you CAN use google’s advanced features and tell it you want to search the totallyadd.com domain for whatever key words you choose. Bing probably does the same – search by domain. Keep a tab open to google, a tab open to this forum.

    Just a thought –

Actaully, I’m pretty calm right now, but reading your post, sorry while I LOL – I see myself posting that exact thing on a different day!

I guess so far, little problem and I’m 53, far-sighted, bad eyes, one doesn’t even work and I guess I”m getting by.

Maybe later I’ll try to find something and get frustrated and come back agreeing with ya!

I once worked at a head injury facility. We had a music therapist. Reason was obvious – different parts of the brain respond to music than respond to speech. And the reverse of that is the singers who stutter when they talk, but sing with perfect clarity and pattern, or who are British in speech, but sing as if they were born in the states when they sing.

I watch all the science I can take in on PBS, Nova, etc. I want a quantum computer! Imagine working in q-bits, bits that can be both 0 and 1 at the same time! Talk about speed and multi-tasking.

    Speaking of the “Pretender”………..

I’ve been a small engine mechanic, an electrician, car stereo installer, farmer, auto mechanic, network administrator, notebook computer repair, safety/security manager, building maintenance/housekeeping manager, retail store owner and manager, and an anti-virus expert in the computer world.

    I lived for disaster.

when I was a kid my parents could not afford to buy me the minibikes and go-karts all the other kids had – but they said I could have them if I could build them. I did, and they supported me 100%.

Cars are my hobby, my Javelin is nearly done, my Eagle is getting a fuel-injected Jeep engine in it. I’ve rewired cars from scratch (wiring destroyed by fire, etc.)

Music – Moody Blues, Klaatu, among others, but they are my favorites.

Einstein was wrong about one thing – there’s no such thing as gravity – the Earth just sucks.
