I DO feel gifted, even my true friends believe I am – many come to me for technical advice (home and work) advice on cars, or have me repair or work on things. I’m trusted (at work, I get special confidential projects to work on). I feel good about my abilities, however, I could be better and more. I have the ability to soar – and have on occasion, but I can’t keep it up – can’t stick with it, or anything much for that matter.

    On these:

    >>what is the source of your shortness with people??<<

    If i answered – I’d probably offend a few folks here! Sorry…….

    >> Have you already finished the thought long before they actually said it, where you a mile ahead in the conversation???<<

Yes, absolutely. And I could often phrase it better.

    >> Where you anxious to move on to the next thought?? <<

Yes – next topic please, I know all about this and it’s boring, or, you are SO wrong, why do you even bother? ;-)

    >>Did you already have it but they had to drone on to finish??<<

    Yes.

    >> Are they missing the picture, and you know that before they are done speaking??? <<

Most of the USA is. All the reporters on the evening news are idiots, and drones, and self-serving, and narrow-minded.

There, I probably just earned myself a few un-fans here. I’ll get hate mail, and be tossed off the forums.

What’s amazing is that this forum seems to be a collection of very intelligent, thoughtful and caring folks. Where have they all been hiding?

(now I feel like going and buying one of those cool t-shirts.)

Alas, I still wonder – can symptoms get WORSE with age, or change?

Love it – a doctor who still makes house calls. Like I said in another post – kudos to ALL involved, but a doctor who helps so freely and obviously cares so much is going above and beyond the typical “care”.

That must explain the multiple bottles of pop (some call it “soda”) and multiple cups of coffee in the morning, although I’ve switched to mostly unleaded coffee. I start with 1 cup of real coffee, then go to the green stuff for the remaining 5 or 6 cups.

Pop – I could have an open can or bottle with me every hour.

Smoke bothers my allergies, and eyes, and I’ve honestly never had a desire. Weird, eh?

There are many things I like about this “place”.

No annoying ads, pop-ups, etc. It’s clean without distractions (gee, maybe that’s by design!)

The people who started this…….. selfless, caring, wanting to help, sharing – including any doctors who pop in to lend a hand without charge.

    The members……

    It’s pretty easy to use.

IF there could be suggestions – and this isn’t critical or necessary, just IMO maybe nice?

    a. a place for introductions – those who feel a need to say “Hi, I’m Sue A. Person and I …………..”. and maybe share a bit about themselves. but then maybe that’s the “just found out” section……

    b. some “smilies” – just for fun. I know, they aren’t professional and you’d never use them in a resume, business letter

    c. a way to “subscribe” to certain messages or threads – say “click here if you want an email when someone responds”

And it’s fine actually of nothing at all changes! I still like it here and like the people. This forum is fast and simple to use. I like fast and simple. If changes would mess up the fast and simple, then no changes! ;-)

Yeah – I can be abrupt, and a bit abrasive – so if I seem that way, it’s “just me” and there’s nothing intended. It’s purely accidental.

OTOH, if I AM that way or out of line, I prefer if people tell me to my face! I tell the boss – if I screw up, make a big mistake, or someone doesn’t like something, then march into my office and tell me to my face I was an idiot and I really messed up. I want it plain, clear and quick.

    >>I am not what you might call a leadership type. Nor am I a follower. Frankly I don’t know who I am. At times I can be very creative and original but I also have crashes as well. It is hard to know where and who I can turn to for help and support any more.

Sorry about my ranting. I have a tendency of writing down my thoughts and feelings rather than acting them out. I had found writing is my outlet for my nature. What I couldn’t do is to put them into order and present them in such a manner so people would understand them is the ongoing challenge for me.

    <<

Yes, I have another sibling! ;-)

    I don’t answer questions, I write books………..

Seems I have a lot more brothers and sisters than my parents told me about…………..

high IQ, hyperactive, impulsive, indecisive at the same time, bore easily, miss half of what someone says when they are standing right in front of me talking to my face (I drift off)

I’ve done a lot – I guess an over-acheiver. But is having 3 careers and what, 10 jobs since I was 16 a good thing? Not fired, I just kept “moving on”.

I miss the first 2 or 3 words of a sentence when somone starts to talk if I’m not directly paying attention. Example, someone in another room, they say “so and so told me today that there was a good sale at Home Depot on abcxyz”

I’m going to catch the sale part, and what the sale is on, and most likely, most of the time, where the sale is – but will miss WHO said it – because it takes a couple seconds for my brain to realize – hey, that’s directed at me, divert attention energies!

So I ask the person to just repeat the first 2 or 3 words.

Anyway……….. after all that – welcome to teh club..

She is – just that for years it was never mentioned and now all of a sudden “oh, by the way……….”

MAYBE she was relying on the MIS-diagnosis of doctors and “specialists” over the years and she finally found one who knew…

There are some shows I can sit through – they have to be action shows or keep my attention. Only two movies really keep me sitting, and I’ve watched both of them problably 10 times in the last year or two. Many sci-fi shows keep my attention for the most part – although I’ll take breaks for another can of pop or snack or talk to the cats, etc. (when I say “sit” – I don’t mean still or quietly….)

Tim – gardening and woodworking are “side hobbies” for the same reasons – create and see an end result that give you and others satisfaction. Same for my engines – taking a rusty hulk and turning it into something beautiful that runs and gives off sweet sounds.

Engineering was too complex, took too much time, too much math, but when I farmed, I really had to pull in the math. Not all fields are square, and things get divided up oddly – chemical mixes, tractor speed, nozzle size and shape…. (kids, you need math in almost anything you do, even sports)

Wow, I see echoes of myself in these posts…….

Ah, the VICA contests – I took drafting for a year or so (still have the drafting stuff – yes, REAL pencils and compass and french curve (uh, the type used for drafting)

I never was great at it – tried to hurry too much. When I “applied myself” I did get some A’s.

I did small engine and automotive in VICA. Also took electricity and electronics (back when most circuits were transistors and ICs were just coming of age) I was the only non-senior taking electronics. Same for HS chemistry – it was supposed to be a senior class, I took it as a sophmore. Did badly I think because the teacher relied almost totally on memorization.

    Hobbies I love:

Classic car repair and restoration, alternator repair, antique engine collecting and restoring, showing those engines at shows, repairing antique sewing machines.

    Jobs I’ve liked or loved:

Auto mechanic (my first true love), IT/computer networking somewhat, security and antivirus mostly. Love the challanges there – keeping the bad guys out, fixing things when employees mess up and infect things, the battle to prevent infections to begin with.

At one company, I designed the entire corporate antivirus structure and design. That was fun, a challange, you have to constantly learn and keep up – keep current, keep ahead of things in IT/computers. Fall behind a week and you are in trouble. Just when you get caught up, something new is released or a new patch comes out.

Did small engine repair – transmission repair, etc. – small items you can generally work on and finish quickly and on to the next one.

Have started alternator repair services on the side – in the evenings and weekends, specializing in stuff others don’t like to touch.

I could use one of those massages – my neck and back and shoulders are almost always “tense” and tight.

    >>Still checking news and surfing internet and wasting time doing useless stuff.<<

This is ‘normal’ for ADD, etc.? And I thought I was worthless and lazy….. I spend entire evenings doing that. Daily, all year.

OK, I’m seeing you toss the drug names around – I’d like to bone up on some of this stuff BEFORE talking to a doctor, as I like to know nearly as much as they do before going in It helps me to feel either like they know their stuff, or I should be getting a second opinion. I won’t self-medicate on drugs, not even OTC stuff, but still, I guess I don’t trust too many folks, including doctors after my bad experiences.

    LOL – 2 and 3 I can relate to.

My DIL has gotten me to commit to 10 minutes every Sunday to sort papers and file.

She also setup a table here with labels for me to sort things into piles. One step at a time – grab a handful, sort it. Do that every day at a set time.

So far, it’s “sort of” working.

    >>1. Do I use it?

    2. Do I have a place for it?

    3. Do I love it?<<

But I might need it someday!!

I’m still to this day using “stuff” I’ve saved over the years. I am finally, however, parting with some things……. I just hate to waste things that might be useful. Old newspapers, magazines, etc. – naw, they go. They won’t find me dead under piles of “rubbish” anyway.

One problem I have, though – is that I can’t get rid of anything that either has a cat or kitten on it, or is shaped like a cat. (well, I DO toss old cat food cans, cat litter sacks, etc.) but if it’s a card, candle, notepad, whatever, unless it’s actually “trash” like a used up container, I have trouble parting with it. (so yes, I have a number of Beanie Baby cats)

I DO collect things – antiques- antique spark plugs, antique engines, antique tools. (I can’t settle on one or two)
