WHAM! – “Wake me up before you go go”. It always puts me in good mood and gives me a big grin.

Meredith Brooks – “Bitch”. It’s just plain fun.

Whitesnake – “here i go again”. It’s inspiring.

    >I didn’t see very many details about treatment. I did see that you are currently on medication, so there must be at least one doctor involved, but not much, if anything, in the way of more information regarding any treatment you may be getting.

In the USA, that’s not covered. As stated the max number of sessions is six with a psychologist unless you have severe mental illness. Once I left school, I lost access to them in 2001. We have the worst health care system in the world. When someone can’t afford to reattach all of their fingers or go bankrupt because of medical bills, there is something seriously wrong. We are the only industrialized country without universal heathcare. Other countries laugh at our joke of heathcare system. Our for profit heathcare system was very bad idea from the start. Personally, I would move to another country if I had the money for it. Non-profit heathcare is a better idea that is government run. Rant over.

I’d have to find free therapist to get tested. That’s not available to my knowledge.

    >did also notice, in your words, “Anything you say, i’ve done at least 5+ times already,” in reference to job advice. Please try not to take this personally. When you make a statement like that, it reveals a presumption that “you’ve heard it all.” Yet, we haven’t even had the opportunity to offer you anything. You’re telling us not to offer any advice, because you’ve already heard it, but we haven’t even had the chance to say anything yet. How can you know that what we would have to say is going to be something you’ve already heard, when you haven’t yet heard what we have to offer?

You didn’t read the details. If you have ADD, I understand. I sometimes just skim long messages myself.

Do the math that’s about 17 years of job hunting and interviewing. I could TEACH a university class in job searching, interview skills, and everything else. Those skills aren’t the problem. “I can’t be packaged” for employers. They are looking for “corporate drones”. This I can’t do. Second, I’v wasted enough of my life trying to be something i’m not. I’m different from everyone else. I’v accepted it and moved on to independent business ideas. I feel like a fool for seeing the truth earlier in life, guess that’s called wisdom. I WILL NOT make that mistake a third time in row. The subject is closed for discussion now and for all time.

    >Coaches are great under the right circumstances. Coaches however, are but one tool, and aren’t very effective if underlying issues aren’t being addressed properly and thoroughly. No coach works for free. Somebody has to pay for it, but there may be some organizations (private or public), that have funding that can help you with that. I’ve no idea about that. The concept of coaching ADHD patients is brand new to me. I haven’t even had the opportunity yet to explore the possibilities. Hopefully someone else here can offer more information.

I have help from a local non-profit, but having an ADD coach will be very helpful. Still, they have to be free, else I can’t afford it. I’m currently looking for one.

    >Just know that I HEAR you, and definitely feel for you. And I hope you find some answers.

Accepting who you are means accepting your limits and knowing your strengths. The Star Trek Enterprise theme song keeps me going.

(clipped, check out amazon for the song download)

    It’s been a long road

    Get’n from there to here

    It’s been a long time

But my time is finally near

I will see my dreams come alive at last

    I will touch the sky

And they’re not gonna hold me down no more

No they’re not gonna change my mind

    (Chorus)

‘Cause I’ve got faith of the heart

I’m going where my heart will take me

    I’ve got faith to believe

    I can do anything

I’ve got strength of the soul

No one’s going to bend nor break me

    I can reach any star

    I’ve got faith

    I’ve got faith

    Faith of the heart

We all tend focus on the negative things about ADHD, but our abilities can be considered superhuman. I’m sure most of these apply to all.

My IQ is in the genius range. When i’m learning my way(not school), there is NOTHING I can’t understand. I’v read or skimmed books on quantum mechanics/theory: parallel universes the search for other worlds, quantum reality(fun book about the true nature of reality), hyperspace, and from big bangs to black holes, to name a few. I’m a big discovery and history channel fan. I know a lot about everything: biology, psychology, sociology, art, physics, biology, bio-chemistry, cosmology, astronomy, etc. It’s that whole, “I get bored easy.”, that we all share.

Hyper-awareness of the environment. Good luck sneaking up on me, not going to happen. Handy in some areas.

Hyperactivity, I burn through calories like a race horse. I’v rarely had problems with weight.

Hyper-enjoyment of food. I’m much more sensitive then most. Who needs drugs when you have this.

Hyper-creativity, writing with full developed characters and story is effortless. It flows like a river. I just write down the movie playing in my head.

Being spontaneous and less inhibited, “People can’t figure you out.”, sucks being as dull and boring as you. I’ll take more chances, do crazy things, and have more fun in life than you ever will. :)

As I far as I know, this is as bad as it can get, short of being homeless. ;)

I learned a life lesson. Accept who you are and go with your strengths. Ignore people who don’t accept who you are.

I had for most of young adult life depression and those thoughts. I got help from therapists over the years. One day, it dawned on me it was a yo-yo effect(depression <-> anxiety) . All had to do was wait it out and it would go away. It’s that simple for me, maybe it’s that for others. Then I learned deep meditation to balance my ADD (extreme) emotions. I would/do spend about 20 mins and I would be back to normal(for me) whenever needed.

As for violent thoughts, I see it as part of ADD. Our emotional regulator is defective. Some people use physical things like hitting a bag, etc, as an outlet. Some use video games. I’v read that many people in prison have ADD. As long as you keep it in the game and out of the real world, you’ll be fine

If I have a bad day, I play violent video games to get the anger out my system: Crysis, The Witcher, Oblivion, F.E.A.R., Empire Earth. I’m totally different in game. Depending on the game, i’ll wipe out everything and leave nothing standing or alive and enjoy it. Afterward, my mind is clear and i’m more able to rationally deal with the real world. Also, I’v been playing these type games for about 30 years. I’m about as non-violent as you can find. :)

Just remember your wired differently. Most of us have Yo-Yo emotions. Know that whenever the thoughts come around. Also, I dealt with bullies myself, but i’m still here. Our emotions can overwhelm us, the spikes up and down. When your a teenager, it’s “i’m trapped and there is no way out.” However, as an adult with wisdom. You know it’s just temporary. When I was teenager, I learned specific deep meditation techniques to balance my emotional states.

Don’t blame yourself for not seeing it coming. My parents never knew about those thoughts in myself and they don’t to this day.

I can’t wait! It will be a lot of fun having a female with similar experiences. I have a genius IQ, common among ADD I’m sure. ;)

It will great to have someone who can keep up with me.

If you have read the books from PBS specials, we have different problems from each other. Not all of us is a chatterbox. I’m very quiet, but I do loose things a lot. Details do get done, just takes learning your method of remembering them. I get all my bills paid on time.

    >These are all places to meet women which are not bars, pubs, or dating sites. And if you join a club that actually relates to one of your INTERESTS, you’ll find a woman who is interested in the same thing and lo! You’ll have something in common! Because having that thing in common is why you met in the first place!

    See how that works?

Makes sense. Lets see. I’m childfree forever and no interest in marriage forever(http://www.unmarried.org/). I’m 100% sure since 5 years old(funny story about that). I’m neo-pagan(commonly known as “new age”). I’m a huge sci-fi fan. Motto: question authority. Politics: a stern progressive. Good luck finding all that in one person. Then there’s the physical, but you get the idea. They mIss any one of these and it’s a HUGE turn off.

I stand corrected. I have not tried finding a group with similar spiritual beliefs(neo-pagans or pagans). Neo-pagans and pagans have a diverse range of beliefs. I found a somewhat local group. Trying to find a contact.

I got tested with a psychologist when I was in school. I’m looking for a local in-person licensed privately funded psychologist.

Well, I have. I posted on x-stream forum. I got on for a complex number of reasons. I’m not odd, i’m a creative genius. ;)

You need to develop emotional control. Were like the Vulcans from Star Trek(TV/FILM). Very intense emotions. They use meditation to control them. In reality, deep meditation can balance your emotions out. As part of my spirituality, I do it and feel a lot better afterward.

I’v been through many different means of meeting women with same results. We have little or nothing in common. Been to clubs, night clubs, and singles clubs. Had a profile on a free website. Been there and done that already. I look forward to this site supporting ADD only dating. It will great to find someone with common good and bad experiences to share :)

It will nice to be out on Friday or Saturday for real date. Also, I’v had female friends, just not enough in common or no chemistry. V-Day is coming up, but that’s for another forum. We understand each others emotional and life issues. We are stronger together than apart.

I really meant about traditional jobs. You fear success, so you can’t get a job. Which I thought was insane and made no sense. I really wanted a job badly and worked my ass off trying. On independent business, fearing success is not the issue. Fearing I will fall flat on my ass(again) is the issue. Logic says I have a really good idea and it will make money. Getting past the irrational is the problem.
